Selling Your Photos as Stock Online

Posted on 4th March 2012 by admin in Uncategorized

Photography makes written articles much more interesting and can give readers the sense that they can actually see the locations that they are reading about, and would like to be at. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all be travel photographers who get paid to go to exotic locations and take pictures? Unfortunately, those jobs are rare and not everyone can even try for them because the extensive travel that is required conflicts with family schedules.

Of course you can always submit work as a freelancer, but thanks to the internet and stock photography agencies, you can make money from your pictures with no job attached at all. There is a real demand for stock images because there is a tremendous amount available at such a low cost, and the images are useful to print and online publishers alike.

You can easily get a sense of what is being done by doing an online search for stock photos, and then browsing the selection at any of the sites you find. You will notice that often a single photo was used to produce many available images because a photo editing software was used to crop, refocus, or change the appearance of the image. Most sites, however, do not want a bunch of similar shots, so make sure each submission is unique.

Most of the photos that are licensed are for use on the internet, so they will be very small, but the agencies want high quality so that large versions can be sold (for much better prices) so you will need to use a good camera and make sure to only submit technically appropriate shots. Rejection is assured if you don’t meet the criteria, so be sure to take the time to read up on what is required for submission before you send your photos in.

One last tip—you must take care not to violate the rights of anyone with your photos. Make sure that you do not include any recognizable people, private places or trademarks as a sizable part of the picture unless you have written releases for each one.

You don’t have to spend hours on the Web looking for information about bridal photographer in tulsa .
